Help Win Major Heavy Highway and Transportation Projects Our client, an established heavy civil and transportation infrastructure contractor in the Atlanta market, is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator or Senior Estimator . The level of the position will be determined by the selected candidate's experience, technical capabilities, and ability to lead complex bids. This position will estimate GDOT, heavy highway, roadway, earthwork, underground utility, drainage, bridge, structural, and transportation infrastructure projects. The Estimator will manage assigned bids from initial plan review through final submission, working closely with estimating leadership, operations, project management, subcontractors, and suppliers. This opportunity is specifically intended for candidates with heavy civil or heavy highway estimating experience. Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily in residential or vertical commercial construction may not be a fit. Key Responsibilities Prepare estimates for heavy civil, highway, roadway, and transportation infrastructure projects. Review plans, specifications, addenda, technical drawings, and bid requirements. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop costs for labor, equipment, materials, production, subcontractors, and suppliers. Estimate earthwork, grading, drainage, underground utilities, concrete, structures, bridges, and roadway construction. Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor, vendor, and supplier proposals. Identify constructability concerns, cost exposure, project risks, and bidding opportunities. Work with estimating leadership and operations teams to develop competitive bid strategies. Assist with preliminary schedules, crew planning, equipment requirements, and construction approaches. Lead assigned bids through final review and submission. Senior-level candidates may also mentor junior estimators and support improvements to estimating procedures and standards. What We Are Looking For At least five years of heavy civil or heavy highway construction estimating experience. Strong experience estimating roadway, highway, earthwork, grading, utilities, drainage, bridge, structural, or transportation infrastructure projects. GDOT estimating experience is strongly preferred. Proven ability to interpret civil plans, specifications, bid documents, and technical drawings. Experience developing complete labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and supplier costs. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate effectively with operations teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and other estimators. Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid and Bluebeam is strongly preferred. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Equivalent heavy civil estimating experience will be considered in place of a degree. Experience leading complex or mid- to large-scale GDOT and heavy highway bids. Previous experience training or mentoring less-experienced estimators is a plus.
