Role Description The Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Lithonia, GA. This position is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, and preparing detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. The Estimator collaborates with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify scope, obtain pricing, and evaluate bids. Day-to-day work includes analyzing historical cost data, updating estimate templates, and assisting with value engineering options to meet budget and performance goals. The role also involves participating in pre-bid meetings, preparing bid proposals, and supporting handoff of awarded projects to the project management team. Qualifications Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with experience in quantity takeoffs and cost estimating for commercial construction projects. Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g., digital takeoff platforms, Excel) and familiarity with project management or BIM software is a plus. Knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and industry standards across sectors such as aviation, education, municipal, and retail. Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and clients. Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Prior experience as an estimator or in a related construction role; experience with minority-owned or community-focused projects is beneficial.
