Job Description

Universal Tank & Fabrication is an industry leading manufacturer of Pressure Vessels and Custom Fabrications serving customers throughout North America. We are currently seeking a full-time Weld Shop Project Estimator in Dubuque, IA. Join the UTF family and become part of an organization that is "Delivering on our Promise of Quality". Qualified candidates must be able to deliver custom fabrication quotes that meet our customers' needs in a timely manner. In this role you will use your technical expertise to accurately estimate costs, plan projects, and collaborate with our engineering and production teams. Duties & Responsibilities Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying blueprints, specifications, and other related documents. Review blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project scope and requirements. Prepare detailed cost estimates for welding, fabrication, and assembly projects using industry-standard tools and software. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop accurate project timelines and budgets. Evaluate technical specifications including ASME Codes & Standards, blueprint reading accuracy, and schematics compliance to ensure project feasibility. Maintain detailed records of estimates, project changes, and communication logs for transparency and future reference. Confer with engineers on change orders to develop adjusted cost estimates. Develop and maintain strong organizational, leadership, analytic, and interpersonal skills. Manage multiple estimates and quote revisions at a time to meet customer deadlines Qualifications 2-year college degree or equivalent work experience required Knowledge of welding techniques including MIG welding; familiarity with plasma cutting and press brake operations is highly desirable. Skilled in blueprint reading. Strong mathematic skills for measurements and calculations. Familiarity with ASME Codes & Standards governing pressure vessels is a plus. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in estimating costs for projects.
