Job Description

Masonry EstimatorPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Masonry Estimator to join our preconstruction team. The Masonry Estimator will produce accurate, competitive bids for brick, CMU, stone and concrete masonry work by performing detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing labor and materials, coordinating subcontractor quotes, and preparing clear proposal documents. This role supports business growth by ensuring bids reflect current market costs, constructability, risk, and schedule considerations.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed takeoffs and measurements from architectural and structural drawings for masonry elements (brick, CMU, stone, concrete) and prepare complete, accurate estimates.

Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost breakdowns and unit pricing; maintain and update the company cost database.

Prepare professional bid packages and proposals, including scope write-ups, exclusions, clarifications, and assumptions.

Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor and vendor quotes; build and maintain relationships with reliable masonry suppliers and tradespeople.

Review project specifications, schedules, and site conditions to identify constructability issues, risks, and cost impacts; provide value engineering suggestions when appropriate.

Coordinate with project managers, superintendents and design teams during pre-bid and design phases to clarify scope and incorporate constructability input.

Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits and client meetings as required to gather information and communicate clarifications.

Track bid results, update estimating models and historical databases with actual costs, and provide post-bid analysis to inform future estimates.

Ensure estimates comply with company procedures, contract requirements and relevant codes; prepare backup documentation to support pricing decisions.

Qualifications5+ years of estimating experience in masonry construction (brick, CMU, stone, concrete) or related trades; demonstrated success producing competitive bids.

Proven ability with quantity takeoffs, blueprint reading and interpreting architectural/structural drawings.

Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff) and strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel required).Deep knowledge of masonry materials, installation methods, production rates, labor productivity and common cost drivers.

Strong analytical skills, construction math ability, attention to detail and experience performing risk and value engineering assessments.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable preparing proposals and presenting estimates to owners, GCs and internal teams.

Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines, work independently and as part of a fast-paced preconstruction team.

Degree or certificate in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Estimating, or equivalent combination of education and on-the-job experience; relevant certifications are a plus (e.g., AACE, CMAA).BenefitsPTOFull BenefitsGreat bonus structure
