Job Purpose:
The Estimator at
JOHNS BYRNE CO
is responsible for accurately determining the costs associated with manufacturing and delivering products. This role involves analyzing project requirements, assessing material and labor costs, and preparing detailed cost estimates to ensure competitive pricing and profitability. The Estimator plays a crucial role in supporting the sales and production teams by providing precise and timely cost information.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze project specifications and requirements to develop accurate cost estimates for manufacturing and production processes. Evaluate material, labor, and equipment costs, ensuring all aspects of the project are accounted for in the estimate. Collaborate with the sales and production teams to understand project scope and deliverables, ensuring alignment with client expectations. Prepare detailed and comprehensive cost estimate reports, including breakdowns of costs and potential risks. Review and update estimates as necessary to reflect changes in project scope or market conditions. Maintain a database of historical cost data and use it to improve the accuracy of future estimates. Communicate effectively with vendors and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information and negotiate favorable terms. Support the sales team in preparing proposals and bids by providing accurate and competitive pricing information. Participate in project meetings to discuss estimates and provide insights into cost-effective solutions. Continuously seek opportunities to improve estimating processes and methodologies to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
Required Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in estimating within the construction or manufacturing industry. Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering estimates for complex projects. Experience with cost estimation software and tools.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong analytical and mathematical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and financial information. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in preparing estimates. Proficient in using estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with project teams and stakeholders. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
