Utility Construction Location:
Oak Brook Terrace, IL Job Type:
Contract Schedule:
Full-time, 40 hours/week

$50/hour Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Project Estimator to support utility and heavy infrastructure construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience developing complex cost estimates for utility construction projects and a strong understanding of high-voltage electrical infrastructure. This role will be responsible for reviewing project specifications, drawings, and documentation; developing detailed cost estimates; obtaining material and subcontractor pricing; and collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate project planning and cost control. Key Responsibilities Review project specifications, drawings, plans, and other technical documentation to understand project scope and requirements. Develop detailed estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead. Prepare estimates and competitive bids for utility construction projects. Take direct ownership of complex estimates from initial scope review through completion. Perform advanced cost analysis and evaluate project cost drivers. Obtain and analyze pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors. Analyze historical cost data and industry trends to develop accurate estimates. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, construction teams, and other stakeholders. Participate in project meetings and provide cost-related insights and recommendations. Support project teams with cost analysis throughout the project lifecycle. Maintain and update cost databases, estimating tools, and project pricing information. Monitor project costs and identify potential cost issues or variances. Communicate estimate assumptions, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders. Meet deadlines while managing multiple estimating activities. Required Qualifications 5-10 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in utility construction, estimating, engineering, or project management. Bachelor's degree. Experience with utility or heavy infrastructure projects. Experience with high-voltage electrical construction. Demonstrated experience with complex project estimates. Strong knowledge of cost analysis and estimating methodologies. Strong MS Excel skills and/or experience using estimating software. Ability to communicate effectively with project teams and stakeholders. Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines. Preferred Experience Experience with utility projects involving: High-voltage distribution Electrical substations Transmission projects Electric, gas, or power generation projects Utility construction estimating What We're Looking For The successful candidate will have: Direct ownership of complex estimates Advanced cost analysis and estimating expertise The ability to lead challenging meetings and influence stakeholders Strong utility or heavy infrastructure project experience Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Pay:
$50.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
