Job Description

Borkholder Buildings & Supply has been engineering, designing, and supplying buildings since 1962. By using our 60+ years of experience in the building industry and incorporating the principles discovered in the field of energy conservation, we continue to develop more efficient structures for our customers benefit. The Building Material Estimator will be responsible for analyzing construction plans, specifications, and project requirements to generate accurate material takeoffs and cost estimates. This role plays a key part in ensuring our customers receive precise and timely information for project planning and ordering.
Responsibilities include:
Review architectural and structural drawings to determine material requirements. Prepare detailed material takeoffs and cost estimates for residential, agricultural, and commercial projects. Collaborate with our Outside Sales Team to clarify project scope and customer preferences. Provide recommendations on material options based on project needs and budget.. Ensure all estimates are completed within required deadlines. Identify opportunities to reduce costs or improve efficiencies. Research market trends, competitor activities, and industry trends. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements include:
Experience in construction estimating, building materials, drafting, or related field. Strong understanding of residential and/or commercial construction methods. Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans. Proficient in estimating software and takeoff's. Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to meet changing and strict deadlines. Result driven and able to work collaboratively as well as independently. Detail oriented with a strong history of accuracy. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Skilled in
Microsoft Office:
Excel, Word, Outlook.
