Job Description
Metal Fabrication Drafter - Kemlee Manufacturing, Inc. - Galena, KS Kemlee Manufacturing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Metal Fabrication Drafter to join our team. This position plays a critical role in reviewing customer drawings, preparing accurate cost estimates, and coordinating projects from quote to production. Responsibilities Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Utilize AutoCAD and manufacturing drawings to determine material, labor, and production requirements. Prepare accurate and timely cost estimates and quotations for custom fabrication projects. Generate and manage purchase orders, shop orders, and project documentation. Collaborate with production, welding, fabrication, and management teams to ensure project success. Communicate directly with customers regarding project requirements, timelines, and pricing. Track and update estimates using Excel and company software systems. Assist with project planning, scheduling, and continuous process improvements. Qualifications Experience in the metal fabrication, manufacturing, or construction industry preferred. Proficient in reading and interpreting fabrication and manufacturing drawings. Working knowledge of AutoCAD. Strong understanding of welding, forming, bending, machining, and custom fabrication processes. Experience with purchase orders, shop orders, and production workflows. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience Previous estimating experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment. Knowledge of steel, aluminum, and other metal fabrication materials. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling.
