Role Description The Erosion Control Estimator is a full-time, on-site role located in Olathe, KS. This role is responsible for reviewing project plans, specifications, and site conditions to prepare accurate estimates and proposals for erosion and sediment control services. Day-to-day tasks include performing quantity takeoffs, requesting and analyzing vendor and subcontractor pricing, and developing cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and equipment. The estimator collaborates with project managers, field supervisors, and clients to clarify scope, respond to bid inquiries, and adjust estimates based on project changes. Additional responsibilities include tracking bid opportunities, maintaining estimating records, assisting with budgeting, and supporting project handoff to operations to ensure a smooth transition from bid to construction. Qualifications Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and site drawings, with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency with estimating tools or software (spreadsheets, takeoff tools) and strong numerical and analytical skills. Knowledge of erosion and sediment control methods, construction practices, and relevant environmental or regulatory requirements (experience in civil or site work is beneficial). Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing proposals, clarifying scope with clients, and collaborating with internal teams. Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Comfort working on-site, including occasional site visits to assess conditions and verify quantities. High level of integrity, reliability, and commitment to safety and quality standards. Relevant experience in estimating, construction, or erosion control; an associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
