Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Construction Estimator for Commercial projects to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing blueprints and technical drawings. Your expertise will help ensure project bids are competitive yet profitable, supporting our commitment to delivering high-quality commercial construction solutions. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, collaborate with clients and contractors, and contribute to the successful execution of large-scale commercial developments. Responsibilities Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately estimate material requirements and labor costs. Utilize estimating software such as Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to develop detailed project bids. Conduct thorough cost analysis including material costs, subcontractor quotes, and labor estimates to prepare comprehensive budgets. Manage project estimates by tracking changes, updating cost data, and ensuring alignment with project scope and client expectations. Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to negotiate pricing and secure competitive bids. Oversee the review of contracts and scope of work documents to ensure accurate estimation and risk mitigation. Interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately to estimate quantities, materials, and construction methods needed for each project. Collaborate with project managers on scheduling, resource allocation, and overall project planning to optimize efficiency. Maintain detailed records of estimates, bids, correspondence, and project documentation using spreadsheets and construction management software. Qualifications Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry. Strong proficiency in estimating software. Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, technical drawing review, and interpreting construction plans. Demonstrated ability in cost management including material cost estimating and cost control strategies. Skilled in negotiation with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to achieve favorable pricing agreements. Familiarity with construction site operations, contracts, project management principles, and construction management software. Excellent communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration. Construction industry experience with a focus on commercial projects is essential; a background in construction management or related fields is preferred. Ability to read spreadsheets accurately for estimating purposes; experience with Microsoft Office Suite is required.
