Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented On-site Estimator to support electric utility projects in Hudson, Massachusetts. This role focuses on preparing accurate estimates, reviewing project information, and coordinating with customers, municipalities, and internal teams to keep work moving efficiently. The ideal candidate is comfortable interpreting technical documents, visiting job sites when needed, and managing multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare complete cost estimates for utility-related work, including assembling supporting documentation and identifying potential job-site hazards. Develop estimate packages using design knowledge related to the installation, replacement, and improvement of power distribution equipment. Review plans, specifications, and related records to determine project scope, verify details, and resolve discrepancies before finalizing estimates. Communicate with residential customers, public agencies, and utility representatives to gather information and clarify project needs. Visit local job sites as needed to collect field data and confirm conditions that may affect pricing or execution. Use company forms and Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, to organize estimate data and produce clear, accurate deliverables. Manage several estimating assignments at the same time while maintaining strong attention to deadlines, accuracy, and customer expectations. Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide responsive support and practical solutions to estimating challenges. Associate degree or higher is required. At least 1 year of experience in the electrical, utility, or construction field is preferred. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and supporting technical documents. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including strong working knowledge of Excel. Strong customer service skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally on a weekly basis as business needs require. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work additional hours when necessary to meet deadlines. Knowledge of overhead and underground utility work, along with general electrical understanding, is helpful.
