Our client a long standing and reputable Commercial General Contractor is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Estimator to join their team based in North Andover, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the bidding process from initial project review to final proposal submission. Because their project types vary, they need an estimator who is highly adaptable, possesses strong local subcontractor relationships, and has a deep understanding of diverse construction materials and methods. Known for their versatility, craftsmanship, and local expertise, the clients project portfolio spans diverse sectors including commercial roofing, exterior building envelopes, interior fit-outs, mixed-use developments, and high-stakes historical and religious restorations.

Key Responsibilities:

Takeoffs & Pricing:

Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and comprehensive cost estimates for labor, materials, and equipment across all core sectors

Subcontractor Management:

Solicit, review, and scope subcontractor and vendor bids. Leverage and expand our local Boston-area subcontractor network to ensure competitive and qualified bidding.

Bid Strategy:

Analyze project plans, specifications, historical data, and site conditions to identify potential risks and value-engineering opportunities.

Collaborative Hand-off:

Work closely with Project Managers and Executives during the pre-construction phase to ensure a seamless transition from the winning bid to project kickoff.

Site Visitations:

Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site walk-throughs to assess existing conditions

Qualifications & Skills:

Experience:

3-5+ years of experience estimating commercial construction projects.

Local Knowledge:

Strong familiarity with the Boston construction market, building codes, and regional subcontractor networks.

Technical Proficiency:

Mastery of modern estimating software (e.g., On-Center/On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or ProEst) and MS Excel.

Versatility:

Ability to shift gears seamlessly between projects

Communication:

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for negotiating with subs and presenting bids to clients.
