Job Description The Estimator - Federal Construction - DC/MD will: Prepare detailed cost estimates for large-scale federal construction projects from conceptual budgeting through final bid submission. Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to develop accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing. Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors and suppliers throughout the region to ensure competitive bid coverage. Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor proposals to assemble complete project estimates. Collaborate with operations, project management, and leadership teams during preconstruction planning. Support bid strategy development and participate in proposal reviews and presentations. Mentor and assist a junior estimator while contributing to the overall growth of the estimating department. Utilize Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office to manage estimating deliverables and project documentation. Assist with value engineering, budgeting exercises, and scope reviews to maximize project success. Maintain awareness of market trends, labor pricing, and material costs across the federal construction sector. The Successful Applicant The Estimator - Federal Construction - DC/MD will have: 5-7+ years of estimating experience within commercial or federal construction. Previous experience working for a General Contractor is required. Strong federal project experience and understanding of government construction requirements. Established network of subcontractors and trade partners throughout the DC/Maryland/Virginia market. Proficiency with Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to review plans, specifications, and perform accurate quantity takeoffs. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members is highly preferred.
