Job Overview This is an in-office position in Finksburg, MD, Monday through Friday — please confirm you're able to make that commute before applying. Walpert Electric has been wiring Baltimore since 1923. We're a 20-to-30-person commercial electrical contractor building tenant fit-outs, institutional and healthcare renovations, and generator and service work for general contractors who've used our crews for years. We're veteran-owned, open shop, and small enough that the person who prices a job also gets to watch it built. We're adding an Associate Estimator to keep pace with a growing bid calendar. You'll work directly with the President and our estimating department, learning to price live commercial jobs from day one, with a real path to running bids of your own. Responsibilities Take off electrical drawings — devices, fixtures, gear, raceway and wire footage — using our estimating software and by hand Read specs and notes, and flag what's missing, unclear, or conflicting between sheets Build and send vendor quote requests, chase them down, and reconcile them against our counts Draft proposals for the President's review Own the bid calendar — every invitation, due date, and follow-up Walk sites and attend pre-bid meetings Qualifications Able to read a set of commercial electrical drawings and specs and tell us what's on them — you'll be asked to prove it with a short paid takeoff exercise before an interview Working knowledge of electrical materials Comfortable in Excel; willing to learn our estimating software Organized — a bid that goes out late didn't go out Able to work in-office in Finksburg, MD, five days a week Preferred 1-3 years in electrical estimating, quoting, or project coordination Field time as an apprentice or electrician Familiarity with Trimble, Accubid, ConEst, or Bluebeam.
