Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities for additional work. Actively pursue new customers and project opportunities through cold calling, prospecting, networking, and direct sales activity. Maintain an active pipeline of refrigeration opportunities and provide updates on estimating and sales activity. Coordinate successful project turnover to operations and project management teams after award. Stay current on refrigeration technology, equipment, codes, industry standards, and emerging CO₂ applications. Demonstrated experience estimating and understanding large-scale refrigeration rack systems. CO₂ refrigeration design-build experience is required. Strong knowledge of refrigeration piping, compressors, condensers/gas coolers, evaporators, controls, valves, rack systems, and related components. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, refrigeration schematics, specifications, and construction documents. Strong understanding of labor requirements, material takeoffs, equipment selection, subcontractor scopes, and project costing. Experience developing conceptual budgets and design-build estimates when complete construction documents are not available. Strong understanding of commercial and industrial construction practices. Ability to communicate technical refrigeration concepts clearly to customers, engineers, vendors, and internal teams. Strong sales and customer relationship skills. Comfortable conducting cold calls, prospecting for new business, and developing new customer relationships. Ability to confidently lead customer meetings and sales presentations. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates, opportunities, and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Office, and other construction/project management technology. Preferred Experience Experience with trans critical and/or subcritical CO₂ refrigeration systems. Experience with large centralized refrigeration rack systems. Experience working on refrigeration projects for supermarkets, food processing facilities, cold storage, distribution, manufacturing, institutional, or other large commercial/industrial facilities. Experience developing projects from the conceptual/design-build stage through final sale and construction turnover. Existing relationships within the commercial and industrial refrigeration market are a plus. What Success Looks Like The successful Refrigeration Estimator will be someone who can understand the system, estimate the project, sell the solution, and build the relationship. This person will not simply wait for projects to come across their desk.
