JOB DESCRIPTION A
large concrete construction company is seeking an Estimator to support preconstruction efforts across Michigan and the surrounding Midwest area. This role is heavily focused on concrete estimating and preconstruction, with responsibility for preparing time, cost, and labor estimates using specialized methodologies, while also supporting awarded projects with ongoing cost estimate alignment to operations. The Estimator will work closely with clients throughout the bidding process, proactively following up to address obstacles and increase award success. Strong preference for candidates with established industry relationships who can drive opportunities beyond posted bids. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Lead and support concrete estimating and bidding lifecycle Receive invitations to bid and evaluate opportunities Engage directly with GCs, developers, and owners Identify off-market / relationship-driven project opportunities Perform quantity takeoffs, pricing, and proposal development Act as primary POC for bid process and client follow-up Build relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to secure pricing Assemble proposals and ensure competitive, accurate bids Support transition to operations post-award: Budget alignment, scheduling, manpower planning
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
5+ years of experience of construction estimating Concrete construction experience Proven ability to manage or support preconstruction - pre-award, proposal creation, full bid lifecycle Experience with estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff (OST), Bluebeam, Excel, or Sage Timberline
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
2- or 4-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, related field or other certification/education Strong industry understanding within concrete / construction markets
