Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Commercial Flooring Project Manager / Estimator to join our established commercial flooring company in Southeast Michigan. This position is responsible for managing commercial flooring projects from estimating and bidding through material procurement, scheduling, installation, and project completion. The ideal candidate will have direct experience in the commercial floorcovering industry and be comfortable managing multiple projects while communicating with general contractors, construction managers, facility managers, vendors, and our installation teams. We have been in business for nearly 30 years and have built our reputation on quality workmanship, dependable service, experienced employees, and long-term customer relationships. A large percentage of our work comes from repeat customers, and most of our flooring installation is performed by our own skilled employees. Responsibilities Estimate commercial flooring projects from plans, specifications, and field information. Prepare proposals, budgets, and project scopes. Review plans, specifications, finish schedules, and contract requirements. Prepare and manage product submittals and other required project documentation. Order flooring materials and coordinate deliveries with project schedules. Coordinate schedules with general contractors, construction managers, customers, vendors, and our installation crews. Manage projects from award through final completion. Track project costs, quantities, labor, materials, and profitability. Prepare and manage change orders as required. Visit jobsites as needed to verify conditions, measurements, progress, and installation requirements. Communicate with customers and project stakeholders throughout the project. Work closely with our field supervisors and installers to resolve jobsite issues and keep projects moving efficiently. Manage multiple commercial flooring projects simultaneously while maintaining accurate records and meeting deadlines. Qualifications Commercial flooring estimating and/or project management experience is required. Strong knowledge of commercial flooring products and installation methods, including carpet, carpet tile, LVT, sheet vinyl, rubber flooring, ceramic tile, and related products. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, finish schedules, and construction documents. Strong estimating, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Comfortable working with general contractors, construction managers, facility managers, vendors, and field personnel. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn or use flooring estimating and project management software. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced commercial construction environment. Compensation & Benefits Starting salary: $80,000 per year , with compensation based on experience. 100% company-paid health insurance premiums for employees and their families.
