Job Description

Position Overview Design Electric, Inc. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Electrical Estimator / Project Manager to join our growing team. This key leadership role combines the technical expertise of electrical estimating with the organizational and management skills required to successfully execute commercial electrical construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the electrical trade, be well-versed in the National Electrical Code (NEC), and possess proven project management experience. This individual will be responsible for developing accurate project estimates, managing budgets and schedules, coordinating resources, and ensuring successful project delivery from preconstruction through completion. Key Responsibilities Estimating Prepare comprehensive and accurate electrical estimates for commercial construction projects using company estimating systems. Develop estimates for both Design-Build and engineered projects. Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents. Create scopes of work and cost proposals that align with customer requirements and company standards. Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing. Project Management Manage all phases of commercial electrical projects from award through closeout. Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost controls. Monitor project performance and profitability. Coordinate materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor resources. Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. Identify project risks and implement corrective actions to prevent delays. Maintain clear communication with clients, vendors, field personnel, and other stakeholders. Procurement & Vendor Relations Source and purchase materials, equipment, and services. Negotiate pricing and procurement agreements with suppliers. Track deliveries and ensure materials meet project requirements and timelines. Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure all work complies with NEC standards and project specifications. Maintain project documentation and contract administration. Support company safety initiatives and quality control standards. Qualifications Extensive experience in the electrical trade. Previous project management and/or electrical supervisory experience required. Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents. Excellent organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Preferred Skills Experience with ComputerEase job costing software or similar is a plus.
Proficiency in:
Bluebeam Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft Outlook Experience with project scheduling, budgeting, job costing, and contract administration.
