In person; in-office estimating and on-site bid walks Company Overview Solid Employees LLC is a well-established B2B carpentry contractor with over 30 years of experience serving builders across the seven-county Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. We operate in two primary business lines: single-family new construction and single-family remodeling. Our services include wood framing, siding, trim carpentry, wood deck construction, window installation, and demolition. We pride ourselves on efficiency, safety, and top-quality craftsmanship, and we are seeking a dedicated professional to join our team for ongoing projects. Job Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented, practical Construction Estimator to drive project success through accurate cost analysis and thorough plan review. This role is focused entirely on estimating—there are no sales or cold-calling requirements. You will review architectural blueprints, calculate materials and labor, and assemble accurate, competitive bids for our general contractor partners. The ideal candidate has a strong background in the trades—particularly residential carpentry in new construction and remodeling, including wood framing and trim—and understands how residential projects actually come together in the field. You will be trusted to deliver realistic, detailed estimates that clearly define the scope of work so crews complete the work we quoted, and no more. One of your customers is the crew completing the work from your estimate. Your goal is to set our crews up for a successful build. You will serve as the backbone of our bidding process, maintaining strong working relationships with clients and guiding projects from initial budgeting through the final bid. Responsibilities

  • Complete a job walk on each remodeling project with the customer to understand the scope of work.
  • Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely estimates and material takeoffs for framing, siding, trim, decking, windows, and demolition.
  • Deliver completed proposals to our general contractor clients and serve as a point of contact for technical questions about the bid.
  • Nurture relationships with our core builders by consistently providing reliable numbers so the company continues to receive bid invites and win projects.
  • Guide general contractor clients through budgeting, design development, and practical construction planning.
  • Review construction drawings thoroughly to identify the full scope of work, potential field issues, scope changes, or value-engineering opportunities before work begins.
  • Coordinate closely with project managers so estimates align with timelines, scope, scheduling, permitting, and quality-control expectations.
  • Develop clear, well-organized proposals that accurately communicate our scope of work and help generate repeat business.
  • Collect accounts receivable on jobs you have won. Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience and success in construction estimating for single-family new construction and residential remodeling.
  • Strong, hands-on knowledge of our core trades: rough carpentry and framing, finish carpentry, exterior trades, and demolition.
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret technical blueprints, perform detailed takeoffs, and thoroughly review construction documents.
  • Excellent skills in contract review, vendor communication, and maintaining positive working relationships with general contractors.
  • A solid understanding of construction management principles and real-world job-site conditions.
  • Effective, straightforward communication skills to collaborate across field and office teams, present estimates confidently, and balance client goals with realistic project costs.
