Civil Construction Estimator / Project Manager R&K Excavation is seeking an Estimator / Project Manager to help develop opportunities, prepare bids, and manage the projects we win. This role is for someone who understands how to earn a client's confidence, build an accurate estimate, and work with the field team to deliver the job profitably. The right candidate can stay involved from the first conversation with an owner or general contractor through final project closeout. What you'll do Build relationships with owners, general contractors, and other clients; identify upcoming work and help position R&K to bid it. Review plans, specifications, and site conditions; perform quantity takeoffs and develop estimates for earthwork, grading, underground utilities, and related civil construction. Work with operations to evaluate construction methods, production rates, labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor quotes. Prepare and submit bids and proposals, clarify scope, follow up with clients, and participate in discussions leading to award. Set up awarded projects, including budgets, schedules, purchase orders, subcontractor agreements, and required project documents. Coordinate with superintendents and field teams to manage schedule, resources, quality, safety, and client expectations. Track job costs and production, manage change orders, and prepare regular cost-to-complete and profitability forecasts. Maintain client relationships throughout construction and closeout. What we're looking for Experience estimating and managing civil construction projects, particularly sitework, earthwork, utilities, or similar work. The ability to read plans and specifications, understand field production, and turn that knowledge into a practical estimate and project plan. Strong communication skills with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel. The organization to manage multiple bids and active projects at the same time. Proficiency with Excel and comfort working with construction estimating and project management software. Experience with HeavyBid, HeavyJob, and Microsoft Project is preferred. A degree in construction management or civil engineering is a plus; relevant field and industry experience is equally valuable. This is a full-time position based in Bloomsdale, Missouri, with visits to project sites as needed.
