With more than 19 years in business, we are a trusted residential restoration and remodeling company serving the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. Our work primarily involves insurance-related residential restoration projects — including water, mold, fire, storm, and emergency mitigation services — along with the remodeling and reconstruction required to put homes back together after a loss. The Estimator is one of the most critical roles in our operation: you are the bridge between a homeowner's worst day and the path forward, and your ability to scope work accurately, communicate professionally, and move projects to approval has a direct impact on company performance and growth.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Estimator is responsible for inspecting damaged properties, developing accurate and insurance- compliant scopes of work, writing estimates in Xactimate, negotiating with insurance adjusters, and guiding homeowners through the restoration and reconstruction process. You will own the estimate from initial site visit through project authorization, ensuring every job is properly documented, approved, and set up for a smooth handoff to the Project Manager. This role requires someone who understands both the construction side — materials, labor, trade coordination, and what it actually costs to put a home back together — and the insurance side — how carriers think, how to write a defensible scope, and how to advocate for every legitimate line item through supplements. If you know how to read a carrier estimate, find what's missing, and get it approved, you will thrive here.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect residential properties affected by water, fire, mold, storm, or other losses to assess scope of damage Develop complete, accurate, and defensible scopes of work for reconstruction and repair Write detailed estimates in Xactimate (Symbility experience a plus) that comply with carrier and TPA guidelines Review carrier estimates for missing scope items, underpays, and code line items — write and negotiate supplements to recover all eligible revenue Communicate directly and professionally with insurance adjusters to negotiate and finalize estimate approvals Guide homeowners through the insurance restoration and reconstruction process, setting clear expectations and building trust Secure signed authorizations, work orders, and project approvals from homeowners Submit all required documentation to support estimate approval and project kickoff Photograph, sketch, and document job sites thoroughly to support scope accuracy and supplement justification Manage an active pipeline of multiple estimates simultaneously, following up consistently to drive approvals Ensure smooth and complete handoff of approved projects to the Project Manager, including all documentation, photos, and scope notes Coordinate with the Mitigation Manager when initial loss response creates overlap with the reconstruction scope Maintain up-to-date records in company job management software throughout the estimating process Build and maintain professional relationships with insurance adjusters, TPA representatives, and referral partners Identify opportunities for legitimate supplemental revenue throughout the project lifecycle
COMPENSATION
$62,500 - $97,500+
Annually Plus Performance Based Commissions & Bonuses Compensation Structure Includes:
Weekly paychecks Hourly base pay Overtime paid at time-and-a-half Performance-based commission Performance-based bonuses Paid training on Xactimate, company systems, and insurance processes This role rewards estimators who take ownership of their pipeline, follow through consistently, and convert opportunities into approved projects. Your earning potential here is directly tied to your performance.
BENEFITS
Paid Time Off ◦ Vacation ◦ 6 paid holidays ◦ Paid birthday off Full Insurance Benefits ◦ Health, Dental, Vision & Life Stable, year-round work in a recession-resistant industry Professional, team-oriented work environment Opportunities for advancement into senior estimating or project management roles Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement for site visits
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years of experience in residential construction, remodeling, or insurance restoration estimating (required) Xactimate proficiency — you must be able to write detailed, line-item estimates from scratch (required) Experience working with insurance carriers, adjusters, or TPAs on restoration claims (strongly preferred) Understanding of supplement writing and the adjuster negotiation process Working knowledge of residential construction — materials, labor, trade sequencing, and cost (required) Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (required) Strong computer and technology proficiency — ability to learn and use company job management platforms Symbility experience is a plus IICRC certifications are a plus but not required — we will support you in obtaining them
REQUIRED SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS
Detail-oriented and scope-driven — you understand that what you miss in the estimate costs the company money Strong communicator — comfortable navigating difficult conversations with adjusters, homeowners, and internal teams Self-managed and pipeline-focused — you track your own estimates, follow up without being prompted, and close Organized under pressure — able to manage multiple active projects without letting anything fall through the cracks Customer-facing professionalism — you represent Mr. Cleanz at some of the most stressful moments in a homeowner's life Motivated by performance — your compensation reflects your output, and you're comfortable with that Problem-solving mindset — when a carrier pushes back, you know how to respond with documentation, not frustration
WHY MR. CLEANZ
At Mr. Cleanz Restoration & Remodeling, our estimators aren't order-takers — they are the face of the company for every homeowner and every adjuster we work with. You will have the tools, the support, and the volume of work to grow your earning potential over time. We've been doing this for nearly two decades because we do it right, and we're looking for an estimator who holds themselves to that same standard. If you know construction, understand the insurance claims process, and are ready to own your results — we want to hear from you. Apply today.
