Job Title:
Construction Sales Estimator Job Description As a Construction Sales Estimator, you will focus on building long-term client relationships, generating new business, and preparing accurate estimates and proposals that support the company's growth and expansion of service lines. You will work closely with municipalities, commercial property owners, general contractors, and property managers to win work that drives revenue and sustained growth. Responsibilities Identify and pursue new project opportunities across the St. Louis market to support ongoing growth. Actively prospect, qualify, and generate new business with commercial clients, municipalities, property managers, and general contractors. Build, strengthen, and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers and stakeholders. Conduct site visits and meet with clients to understand project needs, scope, and constraints. Prepare detailed and accurate estimates and proposals for asphalt paving, concrete, and site work projects. Review project documents, including blueprints and specifications, to develop comprehensive bids. Manage the bidding process from initial client contact through project award, ensuring timely and complete submissions. Maintain an active pipeline of new opportunities and track them through the sales cycle. Follow up on submitted proposals, address questions or revisions, and close new work. Collaborate closely with the operations team and customers or tenants to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction. Support preconstruction planning and project handoff to ensure alignment between sales, estimating, and operations. Utilize estimating software and Microsoft Excel to develop, analyze, and present project costs and proposals. Essential Skills Demonstrated experience in construction estimation, with a focus on asphalt paving, concrete, or site work projects. Proven track record in sales and business development within the construction industry. Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints and project specifications. Proficiency with estimating software tools to prepare accurate and competitive bids. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cost analysis, bid preparation, and proposal development. Solid understanding of construction management and project management principles. Ability to manage the full bid process from initial contact through project award. Strong relationship-building and client-facing communication skills. Ability to conduct site visits and accurately assess project requirements. Organized and detail-oriented approach to maintaining an active pipeline of opportunities and follow-up activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications Background in preconstruction activities such as budgeting, scope development, and value analysis. Experience working with municipalities, commercial property owners, general contractors, and property managers. Motivated, growth-oriented mindset with a desire to help expand service lines and market presence. Ability to collaborate effectively with field operations and office staff to ensure smooth project execution. Interest in building a long-term career within a stable, family-owned construction company. Comfort presenting proposals and discussing technical details with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work Environment The role combines in-office work with regular client visits and job site visits within the St. Louis region. You will spend time in a professional office setting preparing estimates, managing bids, and coordinating with internal teams, as well as traveling to client locations and project sites to assess conditions and meet with stakeholders. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
