This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who enjoys working on challenging civil projects, collaborating with operations teams, and playing a key role in securing work across a diverse portfolio of projects.
Position SummaryThe Civil Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating earthwork, grading, utilities, drainage, concrete, and site development scopes while working closely with project managers, field operations, subcontractors, and vendors.
Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyze plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents.
Perform quantity takeoffs for earthwork, grading, excavation, utilities, drainage systems, concrete, and related site development work.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
Develop detailed project cost estimates and bid proposals.
Identify project risks, constructability issues, and value engineering opportunities.
Coordinate with operations teams to establish means, methods, equipment, and labor strategies.
Maintain and update historical pricing databases and cost information.
Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as required.
Assist with project turnover meetings and support operations teams after project award.
Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Qualifications3+ years of estimating experience within civil construction, site development, or heavy civil projects.
Strong background in earthwork, grading, utilities, drainage, excavation, and site infrastructure.
Experience reviewing civil drawings, specifications, and bid packages.
Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software.
Strong understanding of construction means and methods, productivity factors, and equipment costs.
Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Construction Management, Engineering, or related education preferred but not required based on experience.
