Job Description

Position Summary The Estimator is responsible for developing accurate cost estimates and managing material/vendor buyouts across all project types — retail/direct and contract/construction (GC) work. This role reports to the Sales & Estimating Manager and works closely with Sales, Design, Production, and Install to ensure quotes reflect true job cost and support healthy margins on projects of all sizes, including large ($15K+) bids. Key Responsibilities Prepare complete, accurate estimates for signage projects across all types — retail/direct and contract/GC — using current material, labor, and permitting cost inputs. Perform takeoffs and pricing for projects ranging from small-format work to multi-week fabrication and installation of illuminated signage. Source and place buyout orders for materials and subcontracted scopes required to fulfill awarded jobs, tracking pricing and lead times against the estimate. Maintain consistent, disciplined use of the company's estimating and job management systems (QuickBooks estimates, Square Coil) so job data stays accurate and current. Coordinate with the Sales & Estimating Manager and sales reps on quote turnaround, follow-up status, and pricing strategy for bids over $15K. Support pipeline hygiene by keeping estimate status (Pending, Accepted, Converted, Rejected) current and flagging aged or stalled quotes. Work with Production and Install leads to confirm scope, materials, and site conditions before finalizing estimates on complex jobs. Track and report reasons for lost bids to support ongoing win-rate improvement. Qualifications Construction estimating experience required. Sign industry estimating experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge of takeoffs, buyout/procurement processes, and job costing. Comfortable working in job management and accounting software (training provided on company-specific systems). Strong attention to detail and follow-through — this role directly affects margin accuracy on every job. Able to work cross-functionally with sales, design, production, and install teams. Compensation Final offer to be set based on candidate's construction/sign estimating experience.
