Position Summary The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial HVAC projects, including new construction, tenant improvements, and retrofits. This role requires strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, the ability to analyze drawings and specifications, and the skills to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors. Key Responsibilities Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop accurate cost estimates. Perform quantity take-offs for HVAC systems (ductwork, piping, equipment, controls, etc.). Prepare detailed labor, material, and equipment cost estimates. Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for materials and services. Identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities. Assist project managers with budgets, bids, and proposals. Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing, and bid templates. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions. Work with operations and engineering teams to ensure alignment between estimates and project execution. Stay current with industry trends, codes, and technology related to commercial HVAC. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in estimating HVAC systems for commercial projects. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, equipment, and installation practices. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical Documents. Proficient in estimating software, Excel, and construction management tools. Strong mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience with design-build and negotiated work delivery methods. Familiarity with BIM/VDC coordination and its impact on estimating. Experience mentoring junior estimators or leading estimating teams.
