An Estimator provides cost estimates for a project, based on an evaluation of the materials, labor, time and equipment needed to complete the project. May specialize in many aspects of construction or in manufacturing and design industries.
Central Plumbing, Heating, Excavation is seeking an experienced Estimator/Project Manager for our Civil department. The position can be based out of any of our three locations; Great Falls, Helena or Belgrade. This role will be posted until 7/30/2026.
Estimator Duties:
Using your skills as an Estimator as directed and scheduled by management, in collaboration with design/build team to produce accurate budgets based on written narratives. Become familiar with our current estimating software Contributing to the training others in the mechanics of estimating plumbing/mechanical projects employing all current and future company tools, means and methods, as required. Requesting vendor and subcontractor participation on projects estimated, in accordance with any company policies or if specifically directed by management. Interfacing with all Operations and Project managers, providing estimate turnover information as required, to execute the projects that are estimated, when we win award of same. Manage and track win/loss rates of bids submitted Support project managers with pricing of change orders and other project change directives. Input accounting data required for setting up project estimates for job tracking cost codes, performance and accounting needs. Other duties as assigned.
Project Management:
Contract review regarding price and scope of work. Writing contracts to sub-contractors. Material purchasing. Material tracking. Submittals. Pre-planning project (project manual, pre-construction meetings, foreman's manuals, buy-out of equipment and materials, permits).
Scheduling:
Projects (establish and monitor job site priorities), Manpower, Material delivery, Sub-contractors. Project billing. Construction contract/subcontract interpretation. Contract drawings and specification interpretation. Change order negotiation. Warranty interpretation and scheduling. Project close-out coordination. Communication with the general's project manager or the projects owner/owner's rep, if applicable. Communication with the project engineer. Operation and maintenance manuals. Time entry review edits as needed and approval. Administer labor management policy. Monthly update of Man-hours report. Monitor job site equipment rent. Customer service and development. Maintain and develop relationships with customers (owners, general contractors, architects and engineers). Administer company policies.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
1-2 years of experience in estimating or in a relevant trade Ability to review and monitor job cost and labor management Field experience in their area of expertise as a superintendent or experience as a PM in a similar industry for 5-10 years Technical skills and ability to quickly learn new software, including accounting programs Administrative skills and ability to identify business concerns and develop appropriate responses, actions and strategies to address each situation for the success of the company.

WORK HOURS
