Job Description

Hux Contracting is seeking an experienced Project Manager specializing in City of Charlotte utility work. We are looking for a motivated leader with strong knowledge of municipal projects, underground utilities, site development, and City of Charlotte standards/specifications. This role requires both project management and estimating experience. The ideal candidate can successfully bid work, manage awarded projects, and keep schedules, crews, subcontractors, and budgets on track. Responsibilities Prepare estimates and bid packages for grading and utility projects Review plans, specifications, and contracts for bidding and execution Manage grading and utility construction projects from start to finish Coordinate with the City of Charlotte, inspectors, engineers, and subcontractors Oversee scheduling, budgeting, and project timelines Manage field crews and subcontractors to ensure quality and productivity Handle permitting, inspections, and compliance requirements Track project costs, change orders, and billing Attend project meetings and communicate with clients regularly Qualifications Experience estimating and managing utility projects in the Charlotte market Strong understanding of City of Charlotte standards and permitting Knowledge of storm drain, water, sewer, and site development work Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications Experience with takeoffs, bidding, and job costing Strong leadership and communication skills Organized and detail-oriented Proficient with project management and estimating software What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Company vehicle or vehicle allowance Competitive benefits package Growth opportunity with an established contractor Fast-paced, team-oriented environment Long-term pipeline of work
