Job Description
Heavy Civil Estimator Allen grading | On-site Allen Grading is looking for an experienced Heavy Civil Estimator to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive bids on heavy civil and grading projects, from quantity takeoffs through final proposal submission. What you'll do Prepare complete cost estimates for heavy civil and site Development projects, including site visits, plan reviews, and quantity takeoffs and accurate estimate assembly, including crew and equipment production rates, material and subcontractor pricing, and overhead/markup structures. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes and qualify scope against plans and specs. Analyze bid documents, drawings, and geotechnical reports to identify risks, unclear scope, and value-engineering opportunities. Track bid schedules and ensure estimates are submitted complete and on time. Participate in bid-day strategy and final pricing decisions. Hand off awarded projects to operations with clear scope, quantities, and budget detail. Maintain historical cost data and unit pricing to improve future estimates. What we're looking for 3-7 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction (grading, earthwork, utilities, or site development). Hands-on proficiency with Agtek and Hcss is a plus. Strong understanding of heavy civil means, methods, and production rates. Ability to read and interpret civil plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports. Strong math and analytical skills with high attention to detail. Solid communication skills for working with project managers, subcontractors, and vendors.
