Position:
Vega Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Masonry Estimator. Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply, and no minimum number of years of estimating experience is required. We are willing to train and support the right candidate as they learn to read construction drawings, complete quantity takeoffs, and prepare masonry estimates. Job Duties & Responsibilities Review architectural and structural drawings with guidance to identify masonry scope, dimensions, and project details. Learn to measure wall areas and calculate quantities for brick, concrete masonry units (CMU), stone, mortar, grout, reinforcement, and related materials. Assist with estimating labor hours and developing material, equipment, transportation, and other project costs. Request, organize, and compare quotes from vendors, material suppliers, and subcontractors. Help prepare accurate bid forms, proposals, scope details, clarifications, and supporting documents. Assist with conceptual estimates and budget pricing for general contractors and repeat clients. Assist with project handoffs, change-order pricing, cost analysis, and estimating questions after a project is awarded. Skills And Qualifications No minimum number of years of estimating experience is required; entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. Basic math skills and a willingness to strengthen construction-related calculations. A strong desire to learn, ask questions, accept feedback, and build confidence over time. Previous experience reading construction plans or working in construction or masonry. Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to producing accurate work. Comfort using computers and willingness to learn Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and estimating or takeoff software. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while also collaborating with leadership, office staff, field teams, clients, and vendors. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred but not required.
Additional Position Requirements:
Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Ability to remain seated and work at a computer for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Ability to occasionally travel to deliver bids, attend pre-bid meetings, or participate in outreach events. Why Join Vega Construction?
