ELECTRICAL ESTIMATOR

Heavy Civil / Infrastructure Construction Eastern North Carolina Excellent Career Opportunity with an Established Infrastructure Contractor Strata Civil is partnering with a highly respected and well-established construction contractor seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join its preconstruction and estimating team in Eastern North Carolina. This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator who understands electrical construction and enjoys being involved in the complete estimating process — from initial plan review and quantity takeoffs through pricing, subcontractor coordination, bid preparation and project turnover. The successful candidate will work closely with estimating, operations, project management, field leadership, subcontractors and suppliers to develop accurate, competitive estimates and help position projects for successful execution. Key Responsibilities Review drawings, specifications, proposal documents and other bid information to fully understand project scope and requirements. Prepare detailed electrical quantity takeoffs and cost estimates covering labor, materials, equipment and subcontracted work . Develop comprehensive scopes of work for electrical subcontractors, vendors and suppliers. Solicit, review and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations. Assist with development of overall bid strategy, pricing and proposal preparation . Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits and project reviews and identify questions requiring clarification from owners or engineers. Review project requirements associated with applicable regulatory, safety and contractual standards. Support participation requirements associated with DBE, MBE and WBE subcontracting goals when applicable. Assist with bid bonds, proposal documentation and other required bid submissions. Identify potential estimating risks, scope gaps, constructability issues and opportunities before bid submission. Maintain relationships and pricing information for subcontractors, suppliers and material vendors. Support purchasing and procurement by developing scopes for purchase orders, materials and equipment. Participate in post-bid reviews and project turnover meetings with project management and field leadership. Help develop preliminary project schedules, manpower requirements, equipment needs and production assumptions. Work with project teams to clearly communicate the assumptions, exclusions, risks and opportunities contained within the estimate. Provide estimating and preconstruction support to operations as projects move from award into construction. Participate in owner, engineer, subcontractor and internal project meetings when necessary. Assist the project team in resolving scope, cost or constructability issues that arise during execution. Support project quality, documentation and closeout requirements as needed. Maintain organized estimating records, cost information and historical project data. Build strong working relationships with field personnel, project management, vendors, subcontractors and other members of the estimating team. Qualifications Previous experience estimating electrical construction projects is required. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field is preferred; equivalent construction and estimating experience will also be considered. Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, construction plans, specifications and contract documents. Experience performing detailed electrical quantity takeoffs and developing labor, material, equipment and subcontractor pricing. Understanding of electrical construction methods, sequencing, manpower and productivity. Experience developing subcontractor scopes and evaluating vendor and subcontractor proposals. Knowledge of procurement, material pricing and purchase-order development. Ability to identify scope gaps, project risks and constructability concerns during the estimating process. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook , along with applicable estimating and takeoff technology. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines and priorities simultaneously. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Comfortable working collaboratively with estimators, project managers, superintendents, engineers, owners, subcontractors and suppliers. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
