Job Description

Project Manager / Estimator - Heavy Civil Construction Turn Your Field Experience Into Your Next Career Move A family-owned heavy civil contractor in the Siouxland area is looking to add a Project Manager/Estimator to their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who has spent time in the field—Superintendents, Foremen, Field Engineers, or experienced utility/civil professionals—and is ready to learn the business from the project management and estimating side. You don't have to already be a seasoned PM or Estimator. If you understand how heavy civil projects are built, have a strong work ethic, and are willing to learn, this company is willing to invest in you and help you develop into the role. Why This Opportunity Stands Out Your field experience is valuable. You already understand crews, production, equipment, materials, schedules, and the challenges that come with getting a project built. Now you have the opportunity to take that knowledge into the office and learn the estimating, budgeting, scheduling, client management, and financial side of the business. You'll work alongside an experienced team and gradually take on more responsibility as you grow into the position. And perhaps best of all, the work is local. Projects are typically located within about a 50-mile radius of Sioux City, allowing you to build your career without sacrificing your evenings and weekends to constant travel. What You'll Be Doing Estimate and manage heavy civil and underground utility projects from start to finish Prepare bids and review plans, specifications, and contract documents Develop project budgets and schedules Coordinate crews, subcontractors, vendors, equipment, and materials Track project costs, production, and schedules Work closely with field leadership to ensure projects are executed successfully Communicate with owners, clients, subcontractors, and project partners Learn and develop the skills necessary to manage projects independently What They're Looking For Experience in heavy civil construction, underground utilities, earthwork, or related work Previous experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, Field Engineer, Estimator, Project Manager, or other field leadership role Strong understanding of construction means and methods Ability to read blueprints, plans, and specifications Strong communication and organizational skills Someone who takes pride in their work and wants to continue growing A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn No college degree required—construction experience matters most What You'll Get Family-owned company with a supportive, team-first culture Local projects—typically within 50 miles of Sioux City Excellent work-life balance Competitive compensation Performance-based bonus opportunities 401(k) plan Stable company with a strong reputation and steady backlog Opportunity to learn directly from experienced construction professionals A genuine path to grow into a successful Project Manager/Estimator Ready to Make the Move? If you've built your career in the field and are ready to learn what happens on the other side of the project, this could be an excellent next step. This company isn't looking for someone who checks every box on paper. They're looking for the right person—someone with construction experience, the right attitude, and the drive to learn and grow. If that's you, we'd love to talk. Call 605-705-3365 or send your resume to phoebe.johnson@gogpac.com .
