ESTIMATOR
Lincoln, Nebraska | Full-Time Ayars & Ayars, Inc., a well-established Design-Build General Contractor specializing in commercial construction is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Estimator to join our Lincoln, Nebraska office. The Estimator plays an important role in the company's pre-construction and project development process. This position is responsible for developing accurate estimates and proposals, reviewing plans and scopes of work, coordinating with vendors and subcontractors, and helping ensure projects are competitively and accurately priced from the beginning. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys working with numbers and construction details, can manage multiple projects and deadlines, and takes pride in producing accurate, thorough work.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Develop preliminary estimates and project budgets for commercial construction projects. Prepare detailed estimates and written proposals for individual projects. Review construction drawings, specifications, and project scopes to identify requirements and potential issues. Perform accurate material takeoffs for self-performed work. Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and vendor pricing. Compare subcontractor estimates against the project scope of work to identify gaps, exclusions, and discrepancies. Conduct pre-estimate site visits to evaluate existing conditions and better understand project requirements. Maintain current knowledge of vendor, subcontractor, labor, and material pricing . Communicate with vendors and subcontractors regarding pricing, scope, and project requirements. Assist with submittals and other pre-construction activities. Create accurate job setup sheets and estimating documentation. Work closely with Project Managers to perform actualizations and compare estimated costs with actual project performance. Maintain organized and accurate estimating files and documentation. Collaborate with Project Managers, field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, and other members of the construction team. Identify opportunities for cost savings and provide practical, construction-focused solutions. Manage multiple estimates and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The successful candidate will be: Detail-oriented and committed to accuracy. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities . Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a larger project team. Able to analyze construction information, pricing, and project scopes. A strong communicator who can build effective relationships with subcontractors, vendors, Project Managers, and customers. Proficient with computers and comfortable learning and using construction technology. Able to work effectively under deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and/or education in commercial construction is required. Previous construction estimating experience is preferred. Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, and specifications. Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications. Timberline experience is preferred. Experience with estimating, project management, construction accounting, or related construction software is a plus.
