Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Estimator to join our dynamic construction team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the electrical estimating process for complex projects, ensuring accurate cost projections and competitive pricing. Your expertise will drive project success from initial bid through contract award, supporting our commitment to delivering high-quality electrical systems on time and within budget. Compensation:
Competitive base salary based on experience, plus performance-based commissions with strong earning potential. Commissions are tied to successfully awarded projects and profitability, allowing high-performing estimators to significantly increase their earnings. Duties Prepare detailed electrical estimates by reviewing construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents, including electrical blueprints and schematics. Utilize McCormick Estimating Software (must have McCormick software experience) Conduct thorough construction drawing reviews to identify scope, potential issues, and opportunities for cost savings. Manage material cost estimating by sourcing quotes, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) compliance throughout the estimation process. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to negotiate contracts, pricing terms, and scope of work to optimize project profitability. Monitor project costs during execution to ensure adherence to budgets through effective cost control and change management strategies. Review electrical systems designs, including electrical schematic reading and interpretation, to accurately assess labor and material requirements for each project phase. Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, contracts, and project documentation using Microsoft Office tools. Support construction management teams on-site by providing technical guidance related to electrical systems, construction site experience, and safety standards such as NFPA 70 compliance. Lead efforts in construction industry best practices for estimating construction project budgets while fostering strong client communication throughout the bidding process. Qualifications Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry, with a strong background in electrical systems design, blueprint reading, and interpretation of electrical building codes. Extensive knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70 standards, and electrical blueprint reading skills. Proficiency with McCormick estimating software. Strong negotiation skills paired with excellent client communication abilities to secure favorable contracts and scope agreements. Demonstrated expertise in cost management, material cost estimating, pricing strategies, and construction budgeting processes. Construction site experience combined with a solid understanding of construction management principles enhances project delivery effectiveness. Ability to review construction drawings critically while managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. Exceptional organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting purposes. Construction experience coupled with a deep understanding of electrical schematic reading, electrical building codes, and safety standards such as NFPA 70 compliance is essential.
