$20.00 per hour plus 2% commission Magro and Sons Steel of NJ is seeking a Part-Time Entry-Level Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to grow in the structural steel industry and learn the estimating process from the ground up. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, organized, willing to learn, and comfortable working with plans, measurements, pricing, labor hours, and project documentation. Prior experience in steel estimating is helpful, but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate. This is a part-time position consisting of approximately 18 hours per week . Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Reviewing drawings, plans, and project specifications Assisting with takeoffs for structural steel projects Calculating material quantities, labor requirements, and estimated man-hours for projects Preparing estimates, quotes, and bid documents Communicating with vendors, suppliers, contractors, and internal staff Tracking pricing, material costs, labor costs, and project details Assisting with follow-ups on submitted bids Maintaining organized records of estimates and job files Learning the structural steel estimating process and company procedures Qualifications Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply Structural steel, construction, welding, fabrication, or estimating experience is a plus Ability to read or willingness to learn how to read construction drawings Ability to calculate or learn how to calculate material quantities, labor hours, and project man-hours Strong attention to detail Good math, communication, and organizational skills Basic computer skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Reliable, professional, and willing to learn Compensation This position offers two possible pay structures: Option 1: $28.50 - $31.50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications Option 2: $20.00 per hour plus 2% commission Compensation will be discussed during the interview process.
