Job Description
Job Description Sea Box, Inc. seeks an Estimator to develop accurate, competitive cost estimates for ISO shipping containers, modular systems, and custom container-based solutions. In this hands-on role, you will analyze RFQs, drawings, and specifications; perform material takeoffs; and calculate labor, fabrication, and subcontractor costs. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and sales, you will validate build methods, coordinate vendor quotes, and support proposal pricing and change orders. This position is on-site within a collaborative, engineering-driven culture focused on quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Review RFQs, drawings, and specifications for ISO containers and modular systems Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, fabrication, labor, and subcontracted services Collaborate with engineering and production to validate build methods and timelines Develop and maintain costing models, price lists, and historical bid data Work with sales to prepare competitive proposals and pricing packages Identify cost risks, value-engineering options, and margin opportunities Coordinate with vendors to obtain and evaluate material and service quotes Support contract review, change orders, and project handoffs to production Required Skills Cost estimation Blueprint and technical drawing reading Manufacturing and fabrication processes Excel and estimation software ERP or MRP systems Vendor quoting and bid analysis Material takeoffs Project costing and budgeting Knowledge of ISO container standards Proposal and RFQ response preparation
