Job Overview:
Citywide Electric & Maintenance, LLC. is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to accurately price projects, prepare competitive bids, and help secure profitable work. The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the estimating process. From initial takeoff through project handoff, while maintaining strong relationships with general contractors, suppliers, and internal management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Bid Preparation & Cost Estimating Review project plans, specifications, addenda, and perform complete takeoffs. Estimate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Develop accurate labor hour estimates and apply current material pricing. Request, evaluate, and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotes. Identify value engineering opportunities and prepare change order pricing. Prepare detailed bid proposals and bid summaries, ensuring on-time submission prior to deadlines. Track estimating accuracy against completed projects to continuously improve pricing models. Project Review & Scope Managemen t Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks to assess project conditions. Identify scope gaps or conflicts in plans and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) when necessary. Review contract documents thoroughly prior to project award. Vendor & Supplier Coordination Build and maintain strong working relationships with electrical distributors and vendors. Obtain competitive material pricing, negotiate costs, and maintain detailed quote records. Project Handoff & Communication Conduct formal turnover meetings with project managers, delivering complete estimate packages with all assumptions and exclusions clearly outlined. Assist with project startup and maintain active coordination with superintendents and field personnel. Communicate clearly with general contractors, owners, architects, and engineers to clarify bid requirements and expectations. Business Development Support Identify prospective bid opportunities and maintain active bid calendars. Assist with proposal presentations and foster long-term relationships with general contractors and developers.
Requirements & Qualifications:
ELECTRICAL ESTIMATING EXPERIENCE IS MANDATORY.
3-10+ years of electrical construction experience (field execution or estimating). Hands-on experience with industry-standard estimating and digital markup software, including BuildingConnected, PlanSwift, Bluebeam Revu, PlanHub, Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local codes. Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
Key Competencies:
Exceptional analytical, organizational, and written/verbal communication skills with the ability to handle multiple bids simultaneously under deadline pressure. Performance Expectations (KPIs): Timely submission of all project bids. High level of estimating accuracy and achievement of target gross profit margins. Increasing bid-to-award ratios while minimizing estimating errors or missed scope. Delivery of clear, organized project handoffs to project managers.
