We are a high-volume manufacturing and fabrication company specializing in precision sheet metal production. We work with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials across a variety of manufacturing processes. We are looking for someone who understands that a good estimate is more than simply calculating material and adding a markup. The right candidate will be able to review customer requirements, understand manufacturing processes, identify potential production challenges, accurately calculate costs, and work with both customers and our production team to develop profitable, manufacturable solutions. What You'll Do Review customer drawings, blueprints, CAD files, specifications, and RFQs to determine scope and manufacturing requirements. Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for new and existing products.

Calculate costs for:

Raw materials Labor Machine time Tooling Welding and fabrication Hardware and assembly Finishing processes Outside processing and services Packaging and shipping when applicable Determine the appropriate manufacturing processes and routing required to produce a part. Identify potential estimating risks, missing information, unusual tolerances, special finishes, or other requirements that could affect cost or production. Review customer drawings and specifications for manufacturability and identify questions or discrepancies before quoting. Work closely with production, engineering, purchasing, quality, and management to ensure estimates accurately reflect current manufacturing capabilities and costs. Obtain and incorporate pricing from outside vendors and subcontractors when required. Maintain organized and accurate estimating records. Follow up on outstanding quotes and assist in converting opportunities into orders. Communicate with customers regarding specifications, pricing, lead times, and other quoting questions. Develop and maintain strong customer relationships. Assist with existing customer accounts and identify opportunities for additional business. Support outside sales activities and customer visits as needed. Help identify opportunities to improve quoting accuracy, profitability, and customer service. Participate in ongoing improvement of ECT's estimating and quoting processes. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate will have practical experience in manufacturing, sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, estimating, or a closely related industry. Required or strongly preferred experience includes: Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Previous experience preparing manufacturing estimates or job costing. Ability to read and interpret customer drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications. Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and production methods. Ability to calculate material, labor, machine, tooling, welding, and outside processing costs. Ability to understand how manufacturing decisions affect both cost and production time. Experience with estimating or quoting software. Computer proficiency and strong attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal production personnel. Strong organizational and follow-through skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD software . Experience with sheet metal design or fabrication. Previous estimating experience in a job shop or high-volume manufacturing environment. Experience with laser cutting, turret punching, press brake operations, hardware installation, welding, finishing, or assembly. Experience working with outside processing vendors. Previous outside sales or business development experience. Existing relationships within the manufacturing or fabrication industry are a plus. Experience working with ERP, MRP, estimating, or production scheduling systems. The Right Person for ECT We're looking for someone who can think beyond the quote . You should be comfortable asking questions when something doesn't make sense, recognizing when a drawing presents a manufacturing challenge, and working with the shop to determine the best way to produce a part. The successful candidate will be able to balance customer needs, manufacturing capabilities, lead times, and profitability when developing an estimate. You should be comfortable working independently while also being highly collaborative with production and management. This position requires someone who takes ownership of their work, follows through on commitments, and understands that accurate estimating is critical to the success of the entire company.
