Job Overview Smith Site Development is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented General Construction Estimator to join our growing team. Our General Construction Division completes a wide range of projects, including commercial & industrial additions, renovations, roofing, mechanical, electrical and plumbing improvements, demolition, hazardous material abatement, and site improvements. Responsibilities Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for general construction projects Perform material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and project-cost takeoffs Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals Identify project risks, exclusions, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits as needed Develop bid packages, proposals, clarifications, and scope summaries Maintain current pricing information and strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors Collaborate with project managers, field personnel, owners, architects, and engineers Assist with project turnover from estimating to field and accounting operations Track bid results and maintain organized estimating records Help ensure projects are competitively priced while meeting Smith Site Development's standards for quality and performance Qualifications Previous estimating experience in general construction Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, sequencing, and project costs Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents Experience with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor solicitation, and proposal preparation Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software Experience with commercial, municipal, educational, or renovation projects is preferred A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required with equivalent industry experience What We Offer Compensation above industry standard, based on experience A stable, long-term career with an established and growing construction company Opportunities for professional development and advancement A collaborative environment where your knowledge and input are valued The opportunity to work on diverse and meaningful projects A company culture built around loyalty, teamwork, and long-term employee relationships If you are an experienced estimator looking for a company where you can contribute, grow, and build a lasting career, we would like to hear from you.
