3002561929-2 Apply for this job now Job Description Peckham Industries, an employee-owned leader in construction materials and road building across the Northeast, is seeking a Chief Estimator to lead estimating for asphalt, aggregate, and heavy civil projects. In this key role, you will own the end-to-end estimating process, from quantity takeoffs and cost modeling to risk analysis and bid strategy. You'll partner closely with operations, project managers, and procurement to develop accurate, competitive bids that support safe, high-quality infrastructure delivery. Responsibilities Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates and bids for asphalt, aggregates, paving, and infrastructure projects Analyze project plans, specifications, and geotechnical data to develop accurate quantities and pricing Build and maintain historical cost databases, production rates, and unit costs Collaborate with operations, project management, and procurement to validate means, methods, and schedules Identify risks, value-engineering options, and bid strategies to improve competitiveness and profitability Lead estimating team workflow, reviews, and quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance Develop subcontractor and supplier scopes, solicit quotes, and evaluate proposals Present estimate summaries and recommendations to senior leadership for bid go/no-go decisions Required Skills Construction estimating Heavy civil and roadway construction Quantity takeoff Cost modeling and forecasting Reading plans and specifications Estimating software (e.g., HCSS, Heavy Bid, B2 W) Excel and data analysis Risk assessment and value engineering Subcontractor and supplier quote analysis Project scheduling and production rates
