We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator with extensive public construction experience to join our growing team. Job Summary The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for public construction projects from concept through bid submission. The ideal candidate must have extensive experience bidding projects for federal, state, city, county, local municipalities, and other public agencies. This position requires the ability to review plans and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, solicit subcontractor and supplier pricing, prepare complete bid proposals, and coordinate with internal teams to develop competitive estimates. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Prepare detailed estimates for public construction projects. Prepare bids for federal, state, city, county, local municipality, and other public agency procurement opportunities. Review plans, specifications, addenda, bid documents, and contract requirements. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam and other estimating software. Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations. Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, bid forms, scopes of work, bid summaries, and cost analyses. Analyze labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and general condition costs. Review bid documents for scope gaps, conflicts, constructability issues, and potential risks. Prepare value engineering and cost-saving recommendations when appropriate. Coordinate with project managers, site supervisors, vendors, and subcontractors throughout the estimating process. Attend pre-bid meetings, walkthroughs, and site visits as required. Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to obtain competitive pricing. Prepare, price, and negotiate change order proposals. Assist with project budgeting, procurement, and subcontractor buyout following project award. Maintain historical cost databases, estimating records, and subcontractor/vendor databases. Ensure all bid submissions are complete, accurate, competitive, and submitted before deadlines. Manage multiple estimates and bid opportunities simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines. Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of estimating experience in commercial and public construction. Extensive experience preparing and submitting bids for federal, state, city, county, local municipality, and other public agency projects. Strong understanding of public procurement procedures, bid documents, prevailing wage requirements, contract administration, and construction estimating practices. Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications. Experience preparing detailed quantity takeoffs, subcontractor bid packages, and complete project estimates. Experience negotiating subcontractor and supplier pricing. Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu, HeavyBid, Procore, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office. Experience with Primavera P6 is preferred. Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Must be able to reliably commute to both the company office and project sites as required. Education Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (Preferred).
