$95,000 - $135,000 annually About the Opportunity A well-established general contractor in the region is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join its team in Watervliet, NY. The company performs a diverse range of ground-up construction and renovation projects throughout New York State, with a strong focus on municipal and public-sector building work. Projects include ground-up and renovation construction involving wood framing, CMU, structural steel, pre-engineered metal buildings, storefront systems, building additions, interior renovations, exterior renovations, and other general building scopes. The ideal candidate will have experience estimating projects for a general contractor and be comfortable managing the estimating process from initial plan review through final bid submission. Responsibilities Review drawings, specifications, bid documents, and project requirements to develop accurate construction estimates Perform detailed quantity takeoffs across multiple trades and building scopes Prepare conceptual, preliminary, and detailed cost estimates for ground-up and renovation projects Develop comprehensive bid packages and ensure complete scope coverage Identify potential cost risks, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, project managers, and field personnel throughout the estimating process Maintain historical cost data and use past project information to improve estimating accuracy Assist with bid submissions, proposals, and preconstruction activities Qualifications 3+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor Experience estimating commercial, municipal, institutional, or other building construction projects Strong understanding of ground-up construction and renovation scopes Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing detailed cost estimates Strong knowledge of construction materials, labor, subcontractor scopes, and pricing Comfortable communicating with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and level bids Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously Proficiency with construction estimating/takeoff software and Microsoft Office Benefits Full Benefits Included For this position, you must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship for a non-immigrant visa.
