Full-TimeAbout the OpportunityAn established general contractor in the Capital Region is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join its team in Watervliet, NY.This position is ideal for an estimator coming directly from a general contractor environment with experience preparing comprehensive bids for projects ranging approximately $5 million to $25 million. The Estimator will be responsible for developing estimates that encompass multiple divisions of construction and include a combination of self-performed work and subcontracted scopes.
The ideal candidate will have experience bidding complex building projects from plans and specifications and possess a strong understanding of construction means, methods, quantities, labor, materials, subcontractor scopes, and project costs.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare comprehensive estimates and competitive bids for construction projects ranging approximately from $5M-$25MReview drawings, specifications, addenda, and other contract documents to develop complete project estimatesPerform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for self-performed construction scopesDevelop labor, material, equipment, and production-based pricing for self-performed workSolicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals across multiple divisionsIdentify scope gaps, overlaps, risks, and constructability considerations during the bidding processDevelop estimates covering both self-performed and subcontracted portions of the workParticipate in bid reviews and assist with final pricing and proposal preparationIdentify value-engineering opportunities and alternative construction approachesCoordinate with project management and field operations during project turnoverMaintain historical pricing and cost information to support future estimatesSelf-Perform & Construction ScopesThe company self-performs a diverse range of construction activities, including:

QualificationsPrevious estimating experience with a general contractor is strongly preferredDemonstrated experience bidding complete construction projects in the $5M-$25M rangeStrong understanding of multiple construction divisions and overall project scopeExperience developing estimates for self-performed work, including labor, material, equipment, quantities, and productionExperience soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and vendor proposalsAbility to read and interpret architectural, civil, structural, and MEP drawings and specificationsStrong knowledge of construction means and methodsExperience with ground-up construction, renovations, additions, or similar complex building projectsStrong organizational, analytical, and communication skillsProficiency with construction estimating/takeoff software and Microsoft OfficeBenefitsFull Benefits Included
