Precision Glass and Shower is seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator to prepare accurate, complete, and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects. This role reviews drawings, specifications, addenda, and contract requirements; develops material and labor takeoffs; secures vendor and subcontractor pricing; identifies scope gaps and project risks; and prepares professional proposals that support profitable growth and an effective project handoff. Key Accountabilities 1. Prepare accurate and timely commercial construction estimates, including material, labor, equipment, freight, tax, and subcontracted work. This responsibility represents approximately 45% of the role. 2. Develop strong relationships with general contractors, architects, vendors, and internal teams to clarify scope, improve bid quality, support award decisions, and generate recurring business. This responsibility represents approximately 35% of the role. The remaining 20% of the role is allocated to related responsibilities, changing priorities, and other duties as assigned. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInterpersonal Responsibilities
- Communicate professionally with general contractors, architects, owners, vendors, and internal stakeholders to clarify project requirements and provide timely responses.
- Review pricing strategy, scope, exclusions, assumptions, and identified risks with sales or leadership before submitting each quotation.
- Coordinate with project management, field operations, purchasing, fabrication, and sales so bid information is complete, current, and suitable for project execution.
- Follow up on submitted bids, document customer feedback and award status, and address questions or revisions that may improve the likelihood of securing the work.
- Maintain constructive customer and vendor relationships that support responsive service, dependable pricing, and future opportunities. Operational Responsibilities
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, bid invitations, and contract requirements to define the complete project scope.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, equipment, hardware, sealants, and related systems applicable to each project.
- Calculate material, labor, equipment, freight, tax, subcontractor, and other project costs using current production assumptions and pricing.
- Solicit, evaluate, and document vendor and subcontractor quotations, product availability, lead times, and approved alternates.
- Prepare clear, organized proposals that define inclusions, exclusions, allowances, alternates, clarifications, and schedule assumptions.
- Identify discrepancies, omissions, conflicts, constructability concerns, and financial risks; submit requests for information when clarification is required.
- Prepare competitive final quotations aligned with company margin objectives and the defined project scope.
- Maintain accurate bid files, takeoffs, pricing documentation, revisions, correspondence, and bid-status records.
- For awarded projects, deliver a complete and organized handoff to project management and operations, including the approved scope, pricing assumptions, vendor quotations, alternates, commitments, and outstanding risks. Organizational Responsibility
- Monitor bid results, market pricing, product developments, and recurring scope issues; share actionable information with leadership and recommend improvements to estimating standards, tools, and processes. Performance Factors

- Customer focus and adaptability: Responds promptly, listens carefully, solves problems, and supports long-term relationships and continuous improvement. Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of construction estimating experience; commercial construction estimating experience is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple bids and meet firm deadlines.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, addenda, and contract documents; identify incomplete or conflicting information; and develop logical assumptions, clarifications, and requests for information.
- Proficiency in construction math, measurements, fractions, decimals, percentages, areas, and cost extensions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word is required. Experience with Bluebeam, on-screen takeoff, estimating, bid-management, or comparable software is preferred.
- Ability to write clear proposals and correspondence, communicate confidently with customers and vendors, and collaborate effectively across the organization.
- Valid driver's license and insurable driving record when travel or jobsite visits are assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent required. An associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, architecture, or a related field is preferred; relevant industry experience may substitute for formal education.
- Industry or estimating certifications are preferred but not required.
- Ability to satisfy the company's pre-employment requirements.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is primarily sedentary and computer-based and requires regular review of detailed drawings, specifications, and computer screens; routine calculations; written and verbal communication; and use of standard office equipment. The role occasionally requires standing, walking, climbing stairs, visiting active construction sites or vendor facilities, wearing required personal protective equipment, and lifting or carrying items up to 25 pounds. Jobsite conditions may include noise, dust, uneven surfaces, weather exposure, moving equipment, and ladders. Occasional local or overnight travel may be required.
