Build the Number Before the Build Begins We're looking for a Construction Estimator to support the preparation of accurate, practical cost estimates for construction projects in Dayton. You'll review drawings, specifications, material requirements, labour costs, and subcontractor pricing to help the team understand project costs before work begins. This role suits someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable working with numbers, and able to communicate clearly with project teams and suppliers. What You'll Handle Review project drawings, specifications, plans, and scope documents. Prepare material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates. Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and project documentation. Request and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations. Maintain estimate spreadsheets, pricing records, and supporting documentation. Identify missing information, pricing gaps, and potential cost risks. Work with project managers and site teams to clarify scope and pricing requirements. Assist with bid preparation and submission deadlines. Update estimates when project requirements or specifications change. Compare estimated costs with actual project results to support future estimating work. Maintain a database of supplier, subcontractor, and material pricing. Support value engineering by identifying practical cost-saving opportunities. Prepare clear estimate summaries for project and management review. Keep up to date with local material, labour, and subcontractor pricing. What You'll Bring Previous experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, project coordination, or a related role. Good understanding of construction materials, labour, and basic project costs. Ability to read construction drawings and project specifications. Strong Excel skills and confidence working with spreadsheets. Good numerical and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to organise several estimates and deadlines at the same time. Clear communication skills when working with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams. Familiarity with estimating, takeoff, or project management software is helpful. Experience with construction software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, or similar platforms is desirable. Knowledge of local construction practices and pricing is an advantage. Relevant construction, estimating, engineering, or technical qualification is helpful but not essential.
