Job Description
The Estimator/Project Manager plays a crucial role in both the bidding and execution of civil construction projects. This position is responsible for identifying projects to bid, estimating costs, coordinating subcontractor and supplier bids, and ensuring timely and accurate bid submissions. Once a project is awarded, the Estimator/PM manages contract documentation, project setup, buyout, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and invoicing. They work closely with the owner, Operations Manager, Superintendents and Foremen to ensure successful project execution, cost control, and final reconciliation. Our ideal team member for this position will: Bring 5+ years of construction experience preferably excavating, underground utilities, street work, civil projects, and general construction. Have familiarity with the contract process from bidding through closeout: eg. Qualifying subs, completing subcontracts, processing submittals, change orders, RFIs, pay apps, permits, etc. Have project management experience including contract management, submittals, scheduling, material procurement, etc. Have an in depth knowledge of and experience using Excel. Have experience and knowledge to independently read and interpret plans and specifications and perform take-offs for estimating. Have knowledge of and experience using construction software such as Bluebeam, etc. Be comfortable building relationships and negotiating with subs, suppliers and owners. Good communication skills and a knack for logistics and planning are key in this role! Understand and follow specifications and blueprints with keen attention to detail.
