Job Description

Experienced Estimator - Waldroop Steel Position Summary Waldroop Steel is seeking an experienced Estimator with strong Metal Building Software (MBS) and pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) experience. This position is responsible for reviewing project documents, performing take-offs, developing accurate estimates, and preparing competitive quotes for customers. The ideal candidate is professional, highly organized, detail-oriented, and an excellent communicator who can effectively coordinate with sales, engineering, purchasing, operations, vendors, and customers. Key Responsibilities Analyze architectural and structural drawings, construction documents, and specification books to determine project scope and requirements Perform detailed material and quantity take-offs Prepare accurate estimates and quotes for PEMB and structural steel projects Utilize MBS to develop estimates and build quotes Prepare and maintain quote forms, pricing worksheets, and Excel spreadsheets Obtain material pricing, lead times, and quotes from vendors and subcontractors Coordinate closely with salesmen, customers, engineering, purchasing, and operations Review project scope, identify discrepancies, and clarify requirements before quoting Assist with value engineering and cost-saving opportunities Maintain organized records of vendor quotes, historical pricing, estimates, and revisions Manage multiple estimates and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness Communicate professionally and effectively with customers and internal teams throughout the estimating process Qualifications 3-5 years of MBS experience Experience with structural steel estimating strongly preferred Strong knowledge of pre-engineered metal building systems Proficient in reading architectural and structural drawings Strong understanding of construction documents and specification books Proven ability to perform detailed take-offs Proficient in Microsoft Excel and creating quote forms/pricing spreadsheets Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills Exceptional attention to detail and organization Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Professional, dependable, and proactive approach to working with customers, vendors, and internal teams Preferred Qualifications Experience with a metal building manufacturer or steel fabrication company Background in structural steel fabrication or estimating Experience with additional estimating or construction software Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
Compensation & BenefitsSalary:
