We are a growing company with opportunities for advancement. We are currently seeking an experienced sales representative / estimator. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Build & Paint Portland offers a top-notch training program, established lead pipeline and a fully integrated, estimating software. We're looking to hire immediately!
Responsibilities:
  • Meets annual sales and profit goals
  • Develops new business; establishes and maintains relationships with designers, builders, real estate agents, property managers and other partners to broaden customer base and secure new work
  • Travels to appointments with pre-qualified potential customers; soft-sells services using company strategies
  • Creates take-offs from project blueprints for new construction projects
  • Creates accurate estimates using estimating software and follows up on all estimates in a timely manner
  • Tracks new business development, estimates, and sales and submits monthly summary reports
  • Analyzes estimated hours/materials versus actual hours/materials to improve estimate accuracy
  • Collaborates with crews and project manager prior to project start to transition into project implementation
  • Participates in weekly check-in meeting and a monthly goal setting review meeting with sales manager
  • Provides input to management on estimating assumptions, technology, and observations from the field
  • Engages in research and training to increase knowledge of residential painting and carpentry
  • Participates in trade meetings and marketing events
  • Models a positive, productive, and supportive workplace culture
  • Performs related duties to support company success
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Excellent sales skills and the ability to close sales and meet sales goals
  • Top-notch communication, active listening, and writing skills to translate customer needs into a scope of work
  • Growth orientation - adept at learning new techniques and skillsets
  • Broad set of computer skills including experience with Word and Excel (or similar), Internet/AI research, and ability to learn estimating software
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills needed to connect with potential customers
  • Knowledge of the painting process and home remodeling
  • Strong analytical skills to refine estimating tools and resources
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2 years of sales experience, preferably in home services
  • Knowledge of residential home improvement service industries
  • Ability to work independently from a home office to create estimates and interact with potential customers by phone and email.
  • Ability to speak and read in English and communicate effectively with others
  • Valid driver's license with reliable, insured personal vehicle Physical Demands /
Work Environment:
  • Physical ability to sit at a computer workstation or in a vehicle for long periods of time
  • Physical ability to navigate uneven terrain and hazards at construction sites and residential properties; ability to work in mixed weather including cold, hot, and rainy conditions
  • Ability to drive throughout the Portland Metro area most often during daylight hours
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$20 per hour base pay plus 4% commission on company provided leads and 5% commission on personally generated leads. Benefits include company-provided branded clothing, paid training, paid time off, and paid holidays.
