Role Summary:
We are seeking a Commercial Estimator to support the commercial painting division by visiting job sites, completing takeoffs, gathering measurements, preparing estimates, building proposals, and helping set production up for success. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, working with numbers, managing changing priorities, and turning field information into accurate scopes and proposals. The right person must be organized, self-managed, comfortable with a lot of driving, and able to handle the mental demands of managing multiple estimates at once.
Salary Information:
Base salary is expected to be around $55,000-$66,000, with total earning potential around $65,000-$80,000 depending on experience and compensation structure. The company is open to a base-plus-commission model or a higher-base structure depending on what motivates the right candidate. Benefits include health insurance, company vehicle, laptop, cell phone, and related work tools.
Responsibilities:
Visit commercial job sites within roughly a two-hour radius of the office. Meet customers, learn project needs, take photos, measure spaces, and complete takeoffs. Count and document what needs to be painted or completed. Create proposals that account for materials, labor, equipment, rental costs, and project requirements. Build work orders that clearly explain the scope, process, materials, and skills needed for production. Support commercial painting, wallpaper, and related scopes. Coordinate with outside trades when needed for simple multi-trade projects. Work from the office or home office to complete estimates and proposals. Meet with production managers and crews when needed to hand off job information. Manage a changing pipeline of open estimate requests. Prioritize urgent leads while staying on top of existing responsibilities. Use maps, calendars, and planning tools to group appointments efficiently. Participate in daily estimator calls to review workload, location, priorities, and support needs.
Requirements:
Commercial estimating, construction, painting, restoration, or related field experience preferred. Some industry experience required. Strong time management and priority management. Comfortable driving several hours per day. Able to manage a flexible schedule without needing to be micromanaged. Strong with numbers, measurements, estimating, and Excel. High spatial reasoning, pattern recognition, and overall aptitude. Able to juggle multiple changing priorities without dropping responsibilities. High sense of urgency and ability to avoid procrastination. Self-motivated and results-oriented. Team-oriented and willing to collaborate with sales, production, and estimating teammates. Comfortable working in the field, in the office, and independently. College degree preferred but not required. Looking for a long-term career opportunity, not just a short-term job.
