Job Description
#Tech-Pro-Admin-01 Project Estimator - Site Development / Excavation Our client is seeking an experienced Project Estimator to support excavation, site development, and underground utility projects. This position focuses specifically on civil/site work. The ideal candidate will have hands-on estimating experience involving earthwork, excavation, grading, sanitary and storm sewer, water lines, underground utilities, and related site-development construction. Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for excavation and site-development projects. Perform quantity takeoffs from civil drawings, site plans, specifications, and bid documents. Estimate labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and production costs.
Develop estimates for:
Excavation and earthwork Site grading Storm and sanitary sewer systems Water lines Underground utilities Drainage systems Site preparation Roadway and related civil/site improvements Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing. Review project plans and specifications to identify scope requirements and potential risks. Prepare bid packages and pricing proposals. Work closely with project management and field personnel to ensure estimates reflect actual construction methods and production expectations. Assist with project handoff from estimating to operations after award. Maintain historical pricing and cost information for future estimating. Qualifications Previous estimating experience within excavation, heavy civil, underground utilities, or site-development construction. Strong understanding of earthwork, grading, sewer, water, drainage, and underground utility construction. Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, plans, specifications, and bid documents. Experience performing quantity takeoffs and developing detailed project estimates. Knowledge of construction labor, equipment, material costs, and production rates. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously. Estimating software experience preferred. Preferred Background Candidates from an excavation contractor, site-development contractor, underground utility contractor, or heavy civil contractor are strongly preferred. This position is not focused on estimating vertical commercial building construction.
