Back Austin & San Antonio, TX - Structured Cabling Estimator Cat5/Cat6 Structured Cabling Hutto , Texas Direct Hire Sep 28, 2026 Structured Cabling Estimator Austin or San Antonio, TX | Full-Time Hybrid | $80,000-$105,000 + Bonus Tek One Solutions is recruiting a Structured Cabling Estimator for a commercial technology-infrastructure organization supporting projects throughout Central Texas. This role is responsible for developing complete labor, material, equipment, and pricing estimates from construction drawings, specifications, field conditions, and customer requirements. The position is hybrid, with occasional travel for local site walks and client visits. The ideal candidate has direct experience estimating commercial structured cabling projects and understands both copper and fiber infrastructure, field installation requirements, labor production, construction documentation, and competitive proposal development. Key Responsibilities Review drawings, specifications, addenda, bid documents, and customer requirements to establish complete structured cabling scope. Perform detailed Bluebeam Revu takeoffs and develop material, equipment, subcontractor, and labor pricing. Estimate Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, single-mode fiber, multimode fiber, horizontal cabling, and backbone infrastructure . Estimate MDF/IDF buildouts, telecommunications rooms, racks, cabinets, patch panels, cable tray, J-hooks, pathways, and support systems. Interpret telecommunications plans, riser diagrams, room layouts, cable schedules, Division 27 specifications, and other construction documents. Develop cable counts, footage calculations, bills of material, equipment quantities, and labor requirements for pulling, dressing, termination, labeling, testing, certification, and closeout. Account for ceiling conditions, pathways, working heights, phasing, occupied spaces, site logistics, and other field constraints. Identify drawing conflicts, scope gaps, constructability concerns, and project risks; prepare RFIs, assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, and alternates. Obtain and evaluate manufacturer, distributor, and subcontractor quotations. Prepare professional customer proposals and support turnover of awarded projects to operations and project management. Participate in pre-bid meetings and conduct site walks throughout Central Texas as required. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of structured cabling, telecommunications, low-voltage, or related industry experience. Direct hands-on experience building structured cabling estimates, performing takeoffs, and pricing projects . Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for takeoffs and document review. Ability to read commercial construction drawings, telecommunications plans, specifications, schedules, and bid documents. Strong understanding of copper and fiber infrastructure, installation methods, production rates, labor requirements, and project sequencing. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word . Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet firm bid deadlines. Project managers or engineers may also qualify if they have direct structured cabling estimating, takeoff, and pricing experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience estimating Division 27 structured cabling projects . Experience with copper and fiber optic infrastructure, including MDF and IDF environments. Familiarity with outside plant cabling, GPON , or related network infrastructure. BICSI or relevant manufacturer certifications. Experience with new construction, renovation, design-build, or GC-led projects. Knowledge of TIA, BICSI, NEC, and applicable low-voltage standards .
